Music scenes in Waltham Forest – classical and choral music
Many classical musicians settled in Waltham Forest after the Victoria Line opened, providing easy access to central London venue as well as cheaper accommodation. Some of these continue to support programmes such as ‘Music in the Village’ and other concert series around the borough.
A range of community choirs thrive in the area, including gospel, pop, folk and classical genres.
The Workshop has started to record memories of the groups and people participating in music making. But so far has only touched the surface. We are keen to interview music makers and music supporters in as many genres as we can.
